The four usual causes

What to do right now
Cut power to the opener so nobody hits the wall button out of habit. If the door is partway open, do not stand under it and do not let kids near it. If it is fully closed and stable, leave it closed and leave it alone.

What a proper reset looks like
A tech starts by securing the door so it cannot move, then releases spring tension. Only then do the tracks get opened, rollers re-seated, and the door trued back to level. The cause gets fixed too: new cables if one snapped, track straightening or replacement if it bent, fresh rollers if the old ones walked out.
